Join your neighbors to provide food, shelter, comfort and care for your community when a hurricane or other major disasterstrikes. With a few hours of training, you can be the crucial lifeline for people in need amid increasing disasters.
When disasters strike and people are displaced from their home, you can be the shelter in the storm. Start your training today and be ready to respond when the next major disaster strikes by volunteering in a Red Cross shelter close to home or across SC.
Shelter Service Associate volunteers support the day-to-day activities within a shelter, which may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information, or other areas. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local or regional shifts of 12 hours each. Volunteers must complete specific requirements, including training, to be eligible for disaster assignments and deployments.
