About this Event
You're Invited: Women's Cross-Country Ski Meet-Ups
Join us for a fun and inclusive series of Women’s Cross-Country Ski Meet-Ups at Kincaid Stadium! Whether you’re new to skiing or a seasoned pro, this is a great opportunity to hit the trails, connect with other women, and enjoy the beauty of winter in Anchorage.
Dates & Time:
- Thursday, Feb 13th
- Wednesday, March 5th
All xc skiing meet-ups run from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Kincaid. The following Double Shovel Cidery meet up will take place for an additional hour after skiing if you would like to join (7-8pm)! Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to the Kincaid Stadium to gear up and help us decide on our ski plans for the evening. We will leave the stadium by 5:45pm, latest, for those going on a trail ski. We will all return to the stadium by 6:45pm to gather our gear and head to Double Shovel for ciders if you’d like to join. Transportation not included.
Location: Kincaid Stadium, Anchorage, Alaska
Double Shovel Cider, 502 W 58th Ave C, Anchorage, AK 99518
We’ll explore the ski trails or focus on learning the basics in the stadium—there will be something for everyone!
What to Bring:
Gear: Your own classic or skate cross-country ski setup (skis, boots, and poles).
Clothing: Dress for the weather and layer up. While you’ll want to stay warm at the start, remember that you’ll warm up as you ski. Moisture-wicking base layers and breathable outer layers are recommended.
Extras: Bring a water bottle and any small snacks you might need for energy.
What to Expect:
For All Abilities:
New to skiing? We’ll have a group focused on learning the basics right in the stadium.
More experienced? Join a group exploring the beautiful ski trails of Kincaid Park.
Group Options: After gathering, we’ll break into smaller groups based on skill level and interests to ensure everyone has a great time if needed, or we’ll all take our time on the trails together.
Social Vibes: This is as much about building community as it is about skiing—come ready to meet new friends and have fun on the snow! Chance to win some free SheJumps swag!
Additional Notes:
- This event is open to all ages and abilities of women.
- The meet-ups are weather-dependent (and snow dependent, we never know this year!), so keep an eye on updates via email as the event dates approach.
- A social Meet Up at Double Shovel after we are done skiing is encouraged, but totally optional!
- You do not have to come to both meet ups, we just wanted to make sure there was a day of the week for everyone to make it this season.
- If you need to rent gear, check out REI or Hoarding Marmot, they will get you set up.
- Mark your calendar, and let’s glide into winter together! We can’t wait to see you out on the trails. ⛷️
