Nationally known Storyteller Sheila Arnold will do a first-person portrayal of the life of Human Rights Activist Fannie Lou Townsend Hamer (Oct. 6, 1917-March 14, 1977) who rose from humble beginnings in the Mississippi Delta to become one of the most important and powerful voices of the human rights movements.
Fannie Lou Hamer was instrumental in organizing the Mississippi Freedom Summer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and later became the Vice-Chair of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, attending the 1964 Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in that capacity.
Storyteller Sheila Arnold is a sought-after historical consultant for museums/exhibit designers helping to develop engaging stories from historical documents, artifacts, buildings and the historical use of land and water.
