Join us in Victoria Quays for an afternoon of celebrations in preparation for Amal's arrival in Sheffield.
The Canal & River Trust are throwing a mini festival in preparation and celebration of Little Amal's arrival in Sheffield.
Little Amal, a young refugee, has embarked on a remarkable journey – an epic voyage that is taking her across Turkey, across Europe. To find her mother. To get back to school. To start a new life.
Amal is arriving in Sheffield on the 29th October and in honour of Amal we will be filling the streets with festivities. This event is suitable for all ages.
Join us to:
- Make your own clay head of Amal which will be fired and used in a bigger art installation
- Make your own flag to welcome Amal which you can take away with you
- Watch live street art and contribute to the piece
- Make your own canal ecosystem out of a plastic bottle
- Enjoy live music and entertainment
- Join a canoe taster session (pre-bookable only - choose a ticket on the ticket options on this event - times are listed. One ticket = one person. Minimum age 7. Children under 10 ideally should be booked on with an accompanying adult)
- At 4:20 we will be welcoming Little Amal into Sheffield - This is her first port of call!
If you're hungry, food is available from the Victoria Junction Cafe in Victoria Quays (1pm-3pm) and in True Loves Restaurant. The festivities also continue later in the afternoon/evening in Tudor Square if you want to continue your day after 4pm.
