Sheffield Jewish History Day

A collaborative event in partnership with Sheffield City Archives, University of Sheffield’s Jewish Studies Research Network and The Wiener Holocaust Library exploring the history of Jewish people and places in Sheffield.

The event will provide: short talks on current research being carried out by the Jewish Studies Research Network; a display of material from the Sheffield Jewish Archives; information about conducting family history using the International Tracing Service Archive; and the launch of a new walking app that reveals Jewish sites of significance in Sheffield.

• 10.00-10.15 – Coffee and start
  
• 10.15-11.15 – Family history session – Elise Bath, International Tracing Service Archive (ITS) Team Manager, Wiener Holocaust Library
  
• 11.15-11.45 – Sheffield Jewish Archives (SJA) talk on the material & display – Frankie Drummond Charig, SJA Project Archivist funded by the Jane Goodman Charitable Trust
  
• 11.45-12.00 – Introduction to the Walking App – Dr Carmen Levick, Sheffield Jewish Studies Research Network, University of Sheffield
  
• 12.00-14.00 – Lunch; consultations with researchers; and an opportunity to explore the walking app and display
  
• 13.00-14.00 – Optional guided walk with Dr Carmen Levick
  
• 14.00-15.00 – Roundtable discussion and mini presentations of current research by the Jewish Studies Research Network.
