About this Event

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing coronavirus situation we have decided to cancel this year’s face-to-face ‘She Is Still Sustainable’ event.

If this year has shown us anything, it is that there is a community of amazing women out there who want to connect, share ideas and change the world together. We very much hope that we will be able to meet you at a ‘She is Still Sustainable’ event in 2021.

Preparations for next year’s event will start later this autumn. If you would like to get involved in organising it or have any other suggestions, then please let us know. And keep an eye on the website and LinkedIn page for other interesting news.

With best wishes,

Penny, Lynne, Frances, Samantha, Alina, Anita and Kerry

She Is Still Sustainable Join other mid-career women working in sustainability to listen, talk, engage and laugh as we discuss the challenges and joys of working in this field at this point in our lives and at this point in history, and take a little time to think about our own future.

Speakers will discuss topics including diversity, career progression, life choices, resilience and looking after our health and wellbeing, and techniques for surviving and thriving in the workplace. Hear from speakers like climate lawyer Farhana Yamin, sustainability entrepreneur and author Solitaire Townsend (Futerra), Womens’ Business Coach and mediator Liz Rivers, sustainable built environment expert Lynne Ceeney, and a range of other women working in different sustainability fields.

We'll also engage with each other: Who are we? How did we get here? What have we achieved? Where to go next? Why do we do this work? How do we maintain our resilience and optimism when faced with difficult realities? We’ll eat at Tibits restaurant on the evening of the first day, and by the time we have a final lunch together on day two we will know each other and ourselves better, we will have thought through the next stage in careers and lives, and we will have a new network of like-minded and engaged women to draw upon.

This is the third time this event has run, and both previous events were significantly oversubscribed. Early booking is strongly recommended. She is Still Sustainable is run on love and energy by volunteers, but we need to charge £70 per person to cover the included meals (dinner on Monday, lunch on Tuesday) and other costs. All of our speakers are providing their time without charge and a special thanks to Tideway for their generous support and provision of the venue and providing tea and coffee refreshments. If cost is a barrier to your attendance there are a limited number of bursaries available to assist, please contact us confidentially to discuss.

(Early in your sustainability career? Sorry, this event won’t be relevant to you. But if you would like to know more about (or help shape) future events aimed at new and emerging sustainability professionals see https://sheissustainable.org/ and look out for future events by following @She_Sustainable on Twitter.
