Shawn Colvin is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter known for her powerful voice, poignant lyrics, and intricate guitar playing. Her 1989 debut album Steady On earned her critical acclaim, and she went on to win three Grammys over her 30-year career. Colvin’s A Few Small Repairs (1996) featured the hit “Sunny Came Home,” which won two Grammys. Her memoir, Diamond In The Rough, was published in 2012, offering an honest reflection on her life and music. Colvin received the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award in 2016 and was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame in 2019. She marked the 30th anniversary of Steady On with a re-recorded acoustic edition of the album. Colvin continues to captivate audiences with her unique artistry and storytelling.
Rodney Crowell, a native Texan and multi-Grammy Award winner, is known for his prolific songwriting career, with hits performed by artists like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Keith Urban. With more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt, Crowell has also been cited as the architect of Americana music, extending his genre reach, but owing to the distinctly universal, literary quality of his writing, he has also penned beloved songs for artists as diverse as Bob Seger, Etta James, the Grateful Dead, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett and countless others. Crowell came up in Nashville’s songwriting heyday alongside Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and Steve Earle and has continued that legacy of camaraderie and kinship with his peers well into the iconic era of his career. As many say – “your favorite song was probably written by Rodney Crowell.”
Crowell’s memoir, Chinaberry Sidewalks, and his collaboration with Mary Karr on Kin showcased his poetic songwriting. He released the album Triage in 2021 and continues to be a highly respected figure in roots music.
