Shawan Rice: Live at Bourbon Street Drinkery

Shawan is a deeply soulful songstress hailing from Central Pennsylvania. Her music is an eclectic blend of rootsy neo-soul, heavily influenced by Black American music. Shawan began writing music at the age of 13, drawing inspiration from artists like Jimi Hendrix and Erykah Badu. She started performing live in 2008 and has since released four EPs, toured throughout the US and abroad, and eventually relocated to New Orleans, where she has become a regular performer.
Playing solo or with her band, Shawan has graced many iconic venues and festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz Festival and Switzerland’s Jazz Ascona Festival. She has also opened for national acts such as Grace Potter, George Porter Jr., and Kermit Ruffins.
