Working with color is one of the most exciting parts of painting for every artist. In this two-day workshop we will explore how to make good choices in selecting the best palette for your subjects. How to get the most out of a limited palette of 5 colors (or less) plus white and black. How to create beautiful neutrals and tips on mixing colors with limited palettes. For permanent reference, students will create color swatches along with a series of small color studies from their selection of limited palettes. These exercises will help build color confidence and allow students to compare and record personal preferences for future paintings.
This class is for serious beginners and intermediate skill levels. Participants in this class should have basic drawing skills, able to work well with values and some experience in their medium of choice. The instructor will demonstrate in oils but has worked in each of the mediums appropriate for this workshop, ie.: oil, water miscible oil, acrylic, gouache, or watercolor.
