Netaji Research Bureau in collaboration with Banglanatak dot com and Asosiasi Tradisi Lisan (ATL), invites you to Shared Worlds: India–Indonesia Colloquium on Oral Traditions and Cultural Memory on 4 December 2025, 3:00–5:30 pm at Netaji Bhawan, Kolkata. The symposium will bring leading Indonesian scholars and cultural practitioners to discuss the diversity of oral traditions and performing heritage shaped by the archipelago’s varied customs, rituals and belief systems. The programme features Wayang Potehi, puppetry rooted in Chinese legends, by the Fu He An troupe from Indonesia and a lecture demonstration on puppetry of Bengal by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Sudip Gupta & Sriparna Bhanja Gupta. The event celebrates cultural exchange and explores how oral traditions shape identity, storytelling and future India–Indonesia collaboration.
