About this Event
We are very excited to announce that Home Instead South Cheshire in partnership with Nantwich Museum are launching a Shared Reading Group on Monday 9th September , that will run on a Monday afternoon 2pm - 4pm.
How does a Shared Reading Group work?
A group of people, one or more of which will be a trained Reader Leader get together to read a novel, short story or poem aloud. We will stop and talk about what we are reading as we go. It's fine not to rad aloud or speak - it's also great just to listen. We want to create a space where people feel at ease.
Our Shared Reading Group will be free to attend and open to all, and will also be Dementia friendly. Shared Reading has been found to have great benefits, including improving wellbeing, reducing social isolation by helping people to feel more connected to others, and helping people to have a greater sense of purpose.
The benefits for people living with Dementia are also great. A study by The Reader found that Shared Reading can significantly improve the quality of life for those living with Dementia as well as providing valuable benefits to relatives of those living with Dementia.
