Shared Reading is a simple, welcoming way for people to connect through stories and poems. There’s no pressure to talk or read aloud — you can just come along, listen, and enjoy the experience.
We’re hoping to start a Shared Reading group here at Flourish, and we’re looking for volunteers who might like to become Reader Leaders. You don’t need any special background or expertise, just an interest in people and a willingness to help create a warm, inclusive space. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
If you’d like to try Shared Reading for yourself, come along to our relaxed taster session. There’s absolutely no obligation to sign up as a volunteer — simply join us, see what it’s all about, and enjoy an hour of calm and connection.
Shared Reading in Doncaster is run in partnership with The Reader, who already host groups in libraries, care homes and community centres across the borough.
