The Shared Practice is a space to explore personal curiosities in movement and dancing. The outcome is defined by the intension you bring.About this Event
- This practice is to gain a deeper understanding of our embodied experiences through the media of improvisation, movement techniques or simply the joy of dance, by observing how attention moves, exploring personal sense making and engaging in conversations before and after. It is suitable for dance artists who work in improvisation as medium or tool to create work but generally it is open to all and everyone. The one requirement needed is that you look after your own practice as there is no guide and to make sure you observe the other needs and energies in the space so everyone can coexist in their practice.
- We begin together and finish together. Please do come on time, ideally 15 min early to settle in.
- There is a facilitator, Laura, to hold the space, introduce and answer questions.
- It is a quiet space where the sounds of breath and to some extend sounding are welcome but sound can be very distracting and if you do use sound please keep in mind that others are right beside you sharing it and it will influence their work. At the same time being free to sound as you move also matters, so effectively we ask you to make wise choices and to speak your mind if something becomes too much for you to manage your own explorations.
- For the last 40 min we use of music and welcome people taking turn dj-ing.
- There are toilet facilities however the studio is on the first floor floor and unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
