Shantyman is a psychedelic funk-rock quartet based in Massachusetts. They tastefully blend various genres from Funk & Soul to Rock n’ Roll. Constantly playing impromptu style setlists, Shantyman is a tidal wave of peaking riffs, crashing into a funk filled sea of pure joy and excitement.
Over the past 10 years the band has toured all over the country, playing shows at historic venues such as the Bitter End (NYC), Pearl Street Ballroom (Northampton, MA), Middle East downstairs (Cambridge, MA) the Webster Theatre (Hartford, CT), Nectars and Club Metronome (Burlington, VT) as well as multiple music festival circuits over the years. Shantyman spent a few years building their fanbase out west in Colorado, where they played venues such as the Fox Theatre, Owsley’s Golden Road, Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple, and the Trading Post at Red Rocks Amphitheater as a pre-party for the String Cheese Incident. Shantyman has also shared stages with friends such as Twiddle, Kung Fu, Turkuaz, Melvin Seals & JGB, Max Creek, Alan Evan's (Soulive), Lotus, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, EOTO, Spiritual Rez, Honeycomb, Badfish (Tribute to Sublime) and many more.
