About this Event
Shannon McKenna Schmidt returns to Wayne with her book "You Can't Catch Us: Lady Bird Johnson's Trailblazing 1964 Campaign Train and the Women Who Rode With Her." In an unprecedented 1,682-mile whistle stop tour of the Southern United States, Lady Bird Johnson set out appeal to her fellow southerners and bridge the divide in the wake of her husband's vocal support for civil rights. Her completely women-led crew turned tides and changed minds--and left their mark as not just an election campaign, but a monumental demonstration of advocacy and equality.
This event is co-sponsored by Main Point Books, Radnor Historical Society, and Radnor Memorial Library, and will happen in the Winsor Room at the Library. RSVPS are requested via Eventbrite; walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
