Shame On Me, Dem Roots Music, and the Djedites team up to ring in the New Year at Continental Club Houston! The bands join forces for a tribute to AMY WINEHOUSE to kick off 2025!Shame On Me
Shame On Me is a soulful 4-piece Rockabilly band from Houston, TX. Their adaptability with many genres has brought them to music fans with varying musical tastes.
Their stage performances are fused with elements of twangy reverb guitars, and soulful serenades that drip like honey from the powerful vocals.
The band formed in 2018, as a mom and pop duo with Mel Torres-Gutierrez (lead vocals, upright bass), and Rogelio Gutierrez (lead guitar). As the sound evolved the band grew to add a collection of friends/musicians. Jewelz "Sweet Potato" Barron (backup vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion), and Patrick "Boss" Kelly (drums)
Together these crooning troubadors cry out their own style with loving elements of The Cramps, 60's Girl Groups, 50's Rock N Roll, Soulful Blues, Country, and Cumbias.
Shame On Me has performed on stages big and small alongside many iconic bands such as: The Reverend Horton Heat, The Meteors, Mattiel, The Jungle Rockers, & more.
As their fanbase, "The Swarm" grows, so does the band's determination, and showmanship. Today and everyday they manifest and create from the heart.
Dem Roots Music
Dem Roots Music. These three little words dare to define a powerful group of diverse musicians.
The center and founder of the group, singer/songwriter Louis Morales, didn’t want the name to be the identification of the band, but be more about the music and the experience.
Dem first appeared in 2016 as Morales’ stage name, when he was playing gigs in his hometown of Galveston, TX. He quickly began to collect musicians into his project, leading him to today’s solid cast of six: Pat Kelly (drums) and Kevin B (lead guitar) of The Suffers, Liam Haney (bass) of Houston’s Third Coast Roots, Sel Philips Caveraz (drums), and Allison Lopez (sax).
As the world was locking down at the start of 2020, Dem’s Pat, Allison, Sel, and Louis joined forces with Austin musicians Dane Folton (bass, Lion Heights), Jeremy Carlson (keys, Lion Heights), and Mario Salazar (lead guitar) to Tall Sky Studios in Austin, where they recorded their first album. Citing it as being a positive but strange experience to record during shut-down, the band quickly realized that the overarching message of the music was about understanding yourself - a phrase that everyone can relate to.
Shortly after recording, and upon returning to Houston, Louis found the final members of his crew. Stay tuned for information on their album release parties in Houston, Austin, Galveston, and beyond.
