This free course examines the psychological, social, and cultural aspects of shame and guilt. We will explore how these self-conscious emotions affect our well-being and relationships. Through discussions and activities, you will learn strategies to cultivate self-compassion and build emotional resilience. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of shame and guilt and discover ways to navigate these challenging emotions with greater ease and self-acceptance.Course Objectives
1. Explore the neurological and developmental origins of shame and guilt.
2. Differentiate between the psychological, behavioural, and social aspects of shame and guilt.
3. Assess how cultural values, family dynamics, and social structures influence experiences of shame and guilt.
4. Be introduced to, and practice skills for fostering self-compassion, emotional resilience, and effective emotional regulation.
Course Requirements
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle, pen/pencil and notebook/journal if possible.
