Rattles have been used in ceremony, performance and personally by Indigenous people across the world. The sound of the rattle reminds us of the healing power of rain, chaos of the Storm, the nurturing and life-giving Nature of Water, and the power contained in each and every one of us. Traditionally, rattles would be filled with rocks, precious stones, shells, seeds and sometimes teeth or small bones to create the sound within. Rattles were often used to pray for and honour the Rains for the sound and connection between Earth and Sky. In a healing ceremony, elders and medicine people would sometimes opt for the Rattle in place of the drum for gentle healing for Women and Children. When we craft sacred tools, we put our love and energy into them, making them very personal and special to us. By crafting your own Shamanic Rattle, you can fill it with prayers and intentions for what you intend to use it for, assisted by the combination of elements that you have used to make it which each have their own qualities of spirit.
Rattles are part of healing, journeying and ceremonial work for those on the Shamanic Path. They are used either for calling to Ally Spirits or to help in Healing by clearing and purifying.
By crafting your own Shamanic Rattle, you also have the opportunity to choose a combination of stones, crystal, shell, and more, to get the right sound, and the right qualities of spirit for you.
We will go through a ceremony where the rattles will be brought to life and are then ready to be put into the world of music and healing.
You are welcome to bring your own stones, seeds, ribbons, leather or additional items of significance to personalize and decorate your rattle.
