Creating a Healing Shaman Drum yourself in the course of one day is a wonderful experience. Working in multiple levels, both in the appearance of the drum and through the deeper level of Spirit. You will be guided through the whole process from choosing the right materials to teaching you how to make a beautiful sounding drum- perfect and unique for you
Every step is created with ceremony and intentions. Every part of your drum is also a part of you.
In this workshop you will be guided by a highly skilled drum maker with 25 years experience. You will use animal skins from reliable suppliers where none of the animals died for their skin.
Structure of the workshop
The workshop building a shaman's drum takes place in 10 steps:
1. You choose the wooden ring in the type of wood and diameter that you call. We work completely intuitively.
2. You choose the skin in the same way. You may have thought that you want to use the skin of a certain animal, but that is just made up in your head. It makes no sense to choose an animal with your head because it is, for example, your power animal. If you want to work with your power animal, or any other animal for that matter, you can invite any animal to join your drum and amplify your work!
3. While the hides can be softened in water, you sand your wooden ring and, if desired, put it in an organic oil and you have the option to decorate the ring with a wood burner.
4. You make a drumstick to play the drum with later.
5. You choose the color rope for the tension wires or cut a lace from skin.
6. We help you prepare the skin; to size and the holes in the right places where the tension wires come.
7. Now comes the basting and then the tensioning of the skin.
8. Incorporate any personal items and/or totem/power animal into your drum and perhaps make an offering.
9. At the end of the shaman drum workshop we initiate the drums with an initiation.
10. Now you have to wait for the drum to dry and you can try it out! The drying process takes 24 hours in most cases.A shaman drum is a drum for life.
