**SOLD OUT** Eat, drink and be merry as we run through our fast and loose, immersive preview of our 2026 summer show, The Taming of the Shrew.
In partnership with Verity Lane Market, Canberra's boutique food hall on Northbourne Ave, Lakespeare presents a bold and energetic version of Shakespeare’s infamous battle of the sexes, turned on its head!
Inspired by a concept by The Playwrought Project (recently performed at Sydney’s Wharf Theatre), this is a world where women do the taming. With suitors lining up for a chance to woo the agreeable Bianco, their mother declares there will be no marriage until the older hot-headed Christopher (Kit) is wed first. The limits of love are tested, and satire and mischief abound, as the cunning Petruchia takes on the daunting task of courting this sharp-tongued ‘shrew’.
Show starts at 6.30pm. Buy your meal and drinks from the Markets before the show or during the interval and head upstairs to the Louie Louie space to watch.
As close to the original Shakespearean experience as you'll ever get in Canberra!
