Presented by Metro Inclusive Health in partnership with St Pete Pride, this year, Shades of Pride Juneteenth Celebration will be a 2 day Art and Music Festival that showcases the Black and Brown experience of the LGBTQIA community in the Tampa Bay Region through Art, Culture, Music, & Panel Discussions.
Day 1, Friday Jun 14, 2024 will feature a Prequel to Ballroom, Poetry Slam and Night Party.
Day 2, Saturday Jun 15, 2024 will feature panel discussions, live musical performances and closing out with The Honors Ball.
Friday June 14th 2024
Doors open at 5pm
5:30-6:30 pm- "Prequel to Ballroom"
Prequel to Ballroom Exhibition will consist of a history lesson of ballroom/showcase and a team production category headed by team captains that will curate a team to compete. It will act as a means of engaging and kick-starting our festival participants to
the fullest extent, and exposing the festival goers on Friday to what is to come at the Honors Ball.
Each team will consist of 4 people that will represent the four categories (Face, Best Dressed, Performance, and Runway). Teams will also be required to bring it in shades of brown. Each team, no more than 4 teams, will put together a team production of no
more than 3 minutes with all four categories being showcased. Winning team will be chosen by sole judge, Icon Leiomy Miyake Mugler and will snatch a grand prize of $1K for their team.
7- 10 pm- “Shade vs Pride” Last Poet Standing Poetry Slam
Shade vs. Pride Poetry Slam features 20 Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ Identifying poets and their allies battling a war with words for over 5k in cash prizes. Hosted By NovaCane and Produced by Slam Anderson in partnership with St Pete Pride, this head to head style slam will showcase some of the best poets in the Tampa Region.
11 pm-3 am- “Pride Power and Passion Party”
Theme: Afrofuturism
Produced by Evolve Tampa with Dj Donnie Luv, Hosted By TaeDa Tea and Special musical performance by Sevndeep.
Get ready to ignite your imagination and celebrate the boundless creativity, vibrancy, and evolution of the black community! Join us for an unforgettable night of Afrofuturism at Shades of Prides’ “Pride, Power & Passion” night party; presented by EVOLVE Tampa Bay. This event honors the rich heritage and limitless potential of black culture. Dive into a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds as we journey through the cosmos of creativity. From electrifying performances to immersive elements, every moment will be a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of black people. This is a space where the PRIDE, POWER and PASSION of black same-gender loving and queer individuals knows no bounds, and where expression and authenticity reign supreme!

1-2pm- “Vouge 101” w/ Leiomy Miyake-Mugler
Learn the basics of Ballroom from the best. This intimate class will teach you the foundations of voguing. For beginners to advanced students.
2–4 pm- “Soul Glow” Artist Kickback and Mixer.
Invincible Summer Enterprises (ISE) will curate an art experience featuring 5 Black, Queer artists in Tampa Bay. Come Kick Back with local artists, purchase some dope art and meet the artists.
Featured Artists: Tracey Jones, Selena Ferrer, Pain Killer Cam, Jau, and Kleon
3-5 pm- "Intersectional Politics and Advocacy" Panel Discussion.
Local non Profit, Justice over Everything will host a panel discussion on the topic of Intersectional Politics and Advocacy featuring Senator Shevrin Jones, Rep. Michelle Rayner, City of St. Petersburg LGTBQ+ liaison Eric Vaughn. Moderated by Dr. Byron Green with opening and closing remarks by Equality Florida Executive Director, Nadine Smith.
4-7 pm- "Shades of Pride" Concert
Local and Regional Black, LGBTQ+ Bands and solo artists grace the Shades of Pride Stage.

5-7 pm- King Jives Live ”Influential Influencers” Panel Discussion.
King Jives Live “Influential Influencers” Panel Discussion will be an innovative content creator and content builder panel that will consist of audience participation and teaching the audience what it’s like to be Black Queer Influencer. It will be dedicated to highlighting the diversity and talent of Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+
content creators and content builders. Panelists include; TaeDa Tea, Leiomy Miyake-Mugler, Dymond Carrington and Darius Lightsey.
7-9 pm- “LIPS Florida Black and Brown Trans Panel Experience”

St. Pete Pride and Ladies Intervention Project for Success (LIPS FLORIDA) have partnered for the second year to continue the community conversation surrounding the health and social challenges black and brown Transwomen face daily. This Panel Discussion will feature six prominent Black and Brown Trans Women including Ms. Ashunte Coleman, executive director of LIPS FLORIDA on a panel discussing the life and experience of Black and Brown Transwomen. Moderated by Internationally renowned beauty pageant Queen and Ball Room Diva Jazelle Barbie Royale. Join Jazelle and these amazing women as they delve into their lived experiences and the lessons learned.
9 pm-3 am- “The Honors Ball”
Closing out the Shades of Pride Juneteenth, LGBTQ+ Art and Music Fest, The Honors Ball will honor monumental talent, fashion, film, lifestyle and overall black culture. The honors ball will recognize individuals with awards and will list categories that will require individuals to pay homage to various communities of black culture. Yummy Xclusive-Lanvin with Special guest Judges; Leiomy Miyake-Mugler and Jazell Barbie Royale.
