Union County Torah Center–Chabad Hosts Inspiring Shabbaton in Honor of Chai Elul with Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Lazer GurkowWestfield, NJ – September 2025 — The Union County Torah Center–Chabad, located at 111 Laurel Place, Westfield, NJ 07090, is proud to invite the community to a special Shabbaton in honor of Chai Elul, the shared birthday of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Chassidic movement, and Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Chabad Rebbe. The event will be held Friday, September 12 through Shabbat, September 13, featuring world-renowned lecturer and writer Rabbi Lazer Gurkow as scholar-in-residence.
Rabbi Gurkow is a sought-after speaker across Israel, Australia, Europe, and North America. Known for his ability to make profound ideas accessible, he has authored more than 600 essays and serves as a regular columnist for The Jerusalem Post, Chabad.org, and Israel National News. He is also the spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Tefilah in London, Ontario.
