Sgt. Scagnetti and WEAREBISON share the bill at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Nov 9. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10.Sgt. Scag (aka Sgt. Scagnetti) has been a fixture on the Northeast ska/punk scene since the
late 1990’s. Migrating from a ska-pop outfit into a harder, more frantic sound, the band’s live
shows are unpredictable and fun. They might arm the audience with 100’s of plastic toy swords,
split them in half and have the crowd reenact a scene from Braveheart. Really.
The Hartford Courant called them a “surefire crowd slayer.” Brooklyn Vegan said their “fast, fiery
approach rips” and put us on their Top Albums of 2021 list. Bearded Gentleman Music put our
record in their top 10 EPs of 2021 and said “there’s an embarrassment of riches” on our new
record (2023’s “At Least More Than Half-Way Dead, on Ska Punk International Records).
ReadJunk.com gave the new album 5/5 stars and called it “an unexpected kick to the teeth.”
WEAREBISON is the rhythmic-driven, electronic project of producer Jenn Dauphinais & guest collaborators. Dauphinais plays regionally as both an acoustic singer-songwriter and experimental electronic artist. Their music is prismatic, electronic, and provocative, incorporating elements of hip-hop, psych rock, & goth. As WEARBISON, Dauphinais incants lyrical hooks and mezmerizing beats through the use of synthesizers, vocal samples, and psychedelic guitar drawing from the influences of Kate Bush, HTRK, Bauhaus, Pink Floyd, and Sky Ferreira. Their first EP (self-titled) featured the band performing as a duo in 2021, earning them a Top Ten spot for Local Albums of the Year in 2021. BISON's follow up works, Deep Meats I & II, were written, performed, and recorded by Dauphinais as a solo effort using limited resources and parameters, to create their lo-fi, bit crushed, glitched out, mid-life self-story as it appeared in the Pandemic Era 2020-2023.
