1) Fly into the Cancun airport by 1PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024. We will have some time to join as a team and prepare to do service projects at a Foster Home outside of town and serving at City of Joy. Departure is Saturday, November 30th, 2024 before noon. Keep in mind you need to be at the airport 3 hours ahead of your flight when booking early morning flights.
2) You do NOT need to speak Spanish. We will provide basic Spanish/English conversation sheets. Plus, a smile goes a long way!
3) You may choose the projects you participate in from the options chosen by the trip leaders. There may be one, two or three, depending upon the resources available and the current needs of the home.
4) Your financial donation includes lodging and meals, food and crafts for the children, materials, and a donation to the orphanage to pay for all supplies of the projects we complete. Transportation to/from Cancun, MX is not included in the fee.
5) We help you achieve your fundraising goal by providing materials, fundraising letters, website and other assistance. All fees and fundraising checks are to be made out to the non-profit organization “Youth Support, Inc.” Online donations can be made at www.ServingGodsKids.org
6) You MUST have a PASSPORT to attend. We will also provide detailed information as to what to bring/not bring on the mission.
7) Space is limited to 12 participants as we strive to provide a well organized, intimate experience on this mission.
This retreat/mission will prove to be heartwarming, meaningful and spiritually rewarding. Serving in a foreign country is always a challenge in planning so be ready to be flexible and adapt to the circumstances.
In addition, the experience of spending time as a group with other single Catholic adults serving the poor in Mexico is a life-changing experience, as attested by the response from the many missionaries who have attended since Feb. 2008.
