About this Event
Join Josh Chuck, fourth-generation Chinatown native and co-director and producer of the documentary film 'CHINATOWN RISING', for a 100-minute walking tour of Chinatown. We will stop at twelve historically and culturally significant sites.
This tour is for school or non-profit educators and their family members, as well as Chinatown Rising supporters (donations welcome but not required). Maximum 25 attendees.
Josh has hosted over 330 screenings, presentations, and tours over the past few years and is available to do more during the 2025-26 school year for schools and organizations. He focuses on providing an interactive, informative, and engaging experience that is age-appropriate.
A few recent reviews:
"I was incredibly moved by the history of social justice and activism of San Francisco’s Chinatown through Josh’s film walking tour. I think Josh was a great director/producer of the film, but also an amazing educator! It didn’t feel like a history lecture but rather the telling of beautiful and real stories - ones that come from Josh’s personal experiences, family, and community. He had so much commentary about the area that you wouldn't get from any other tour. It was such an enriching event and I am honored to have experienced it!"

"When I debriefed today with students, you were the highlight. They wanted more from you. The other teachers and I saw what you were doing: you were teaching them through asking engaging questions and having them use their bodies to experience an S.R.O. or a protest. Students also loved the personal connections you shared about Chinatown. Many of them are recent, first- or second-generation immigrants, so your story spoke to them. You are doing such a service for your community. Thank you for inviting us in."
