About this Event
In this class, we'll go on a guided group ride to practice street-riding skills on increasingly high-volume streets. This class is the third in the Smart City Cycling sequence, and Smart City Cycling 2 is a prerequisite. If you have not already taken Smart City Cycling 2, you can register for our class on October 14th at sfbike.org/events.
Skills covered in this class include:
- Taking the lane
- Changing lanes
- Left turns
- Lane positioning and signaling
All participants MUST either bring a bike or rent a bike in advance. Bikes will not be available for rental at the class. If you don’t have a bicycle, we will send information on how to rent one for the class. The cost of bike rental (if needed) will be covered by you, the participant. If the cost of a bike rental (about $25) is a challenge for you, please email Cecilia Vega-Mayer at [email protected] or call at (415) 236-3869, as we have limited funding available for rentals.
Please contact Cecilia Vega-Mayer ([email protected] / (415) 236-3869) with any questions about this program.
This class is made possible by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority through a grant of Proposition K local transportation sales tax funds. It is part of the SFMTA’s Bicycle Safety Education program, presented in partnership with the nonprofit San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
