Maya Soleil Afro-World Fusion Music & Dance showcases world-class performers in a multicultural program featuring African-costumed dancers and traditional music blended with modern sounds. Lead vocalist and dancer Moye Kashimbi from Zambia first performed with the Zambia National Dance Troupe at age 9. After studying with teachers at the University of Zambia, Moye toured globally with several dance groups, including Julizya and Amayenge, two of Zambia’s top cultural ensembles.
Naby Camara is a master balafola (balafon player) and percussionist from Guinea, West Africa. Naby is recognized as an African griot, a highly respected musician who acts as an oral and musical historian and protector of centuries-old traditions. Naby has won the Canadian Juno Award twice for best Global Album and is a member of the well-known Alpha Yaya Diallo band based in Vancouver, BC.
Seymour’s Kids Club is a series of interactive, educational family programs designed to introduce children (ages 4 to 10) to the history and culture of Washington State and to spark curiosity.
