We named our little store bear Sunflower! With her slightly knocked knees and cute little bottom in the air, she is simply adorable. This is an unjointed teddy pattern so you don’t have to be an experienced traditional teddy bear maker to make it. She is a brilliant project to learn the basics of making soft toys. The pattern will be needed for the class but once you register for the class, we will send instructions on how to get it the pattern for free!

We will make this bear out of fleece material, which has a slight stretch, and is very forgiving on the curved seams, but may be a bit of a challenge to work with if you have not sewn with it before.

Instructions/homework will be sent several days before class so that you will be prepared and ready to start sewing when class starts. Please look for this and be prepared with all the items you will need for class.

Craft eyes will be provided at class with additional ones for sale. IF you are making this bear for a child under 3, it is recommended that you embroider the eyes on instead of using the craft eyes.

Skill Level: This is a BEGINNER+ level sewing class, so do not worry if you are just starting. You need to know basics on cutting out a pattern and know how to operate your machine. If you don’t know, the “Driver’s Ed” class is a great place to start.

Items needed:

Sewing Machine that does a straight stitch – TEST stitching on two layers of fleece before class.
All purpose foot is fine, but a quarter inch foot is helpful. A walking foot might be needed for your machine if the fleece does not move through well.
Fleece (not flannel!) material – 13” x 43” – If using a print fleece, you can add the nose, tummy and inside ears in a matching solid if you want.
Poly-Fil (or similar) stuffing – at least 8 oz.
Thread to match fleece material
Embroidery floss for the nose (pattern says to use pink, but we used black for Sunflower!)
Sewing tools (machine needles, scissors, clips and/or pins, seam ripper)
