About this courseThis course will introduce you to basic sewing techniques and give you the skills and confidence to create your very own piece. No previous sewing experience is necessary.
Materials Required:
Please bring to the first class:
1 metre of firm fabric for sample work and to make a bag (please do not buy a backed curtain fabric); matching good quality thread (eg Gutermann) and a matching button no larger than 3cm; your box of sewing equipment with - pins, scissors, tape measure, plus a note pad & pen. For practical exercises and samples bring a zipper no longer than 18cm (colour does not need to match your bag fabric and do NOT bring an invisible zipper), odd reels of bright coloured thread. Please note that you should wash and iron your fabric prior to the first class.
There are LIMITED sewing machines available at the venue so please let us know if you need us to provide one. We encourage you to bring you own machine if you have one but you should be familiar with its basic operations and know how to thread it and put in the bobbin. You should also have (and bring) a zipper foot as well as the instruction manual for your machine.
