This class is open to minors 13 and up - all minors must be accompanied by an adult!
A few rectangles of fabric come together for an impressive spook-tacular result!
In this class, beginners and beyond will learn how to work with sturdy fabric and explore the foundations of bag construction while sewing a simple tote that you’ll be proud to shop with daily and even go trick-or- treating in!
We’ll begin with sewing machine safety and hands-on practice with test fabric. Then we’ll walk through the tote bag instructions together.
What makes this class unique is the way it’s taught. While your instructor goes around providing one-on-one support, you can refer to a printed guide and a video tutorial. We will make the most of our time learning, sewing and having fun.
You’ll walk away with a finished tote bag and a lot of handy new sewing skills!
Supplies:
All Supplies are provided!
You don’t have to bring anything though you are more than welcome to if you can! We have five sewing machines and one serger amongst participants. If you have an extra serger or a sewing machine, please bring it—you’ll be able to work at your own pace and get comfortable with your own equipment.
We will provide the fabric, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if you’d like to work with something you personally love. The fabric must be sturdy and not stretch. You won’t need more than two yards.
Instructor Bio:
Meet your instructor, Shirin Delsooz of Havah Designs—a creative entrepreneur in fashion design and a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her two children. With a background in communications and marketing, Shirin is dedicated to making fashion accessible, fun, and inspiring for everyone. She creates digital sewing patterns, produces step-by-step YouTube tutorials, and even designs 3D-printed purses, bringing a modern approach to DIY fashion.
