Learn to use the automatic buttonhole function, as well as the button-sewing foot on our classroom machines. We will create an envelope-style throw pillow cover with multiple button closures. Our goal with these classes is to help you work up to projects such as bag making, quilting, or garment sewing, that maybe have you a little intimidated right now. The best way to grow your skills is to practice, make mistakes, and try again! We design our classes to be low-key and low-stakes, so you can learn with as little stress as possible. Because above all, we think crafting should be fun!
This class is open to students age 14+.
Supplies Needed:
2 Fat Quarters of quilting weight fabric, to be the front and back of your pillow cover.
Optional: 16" pillow form
Optional: Set of 5 buttons. Students will have access to our classroom button bin, but if you want the buttons to match each other, you'll need to bring in your own! Be sure to get buttons with 2 or 4 holes, not shank buttons.

Supplies Provided:
Sewing machine, thread, random buttons, fusible interfacing, and a sewing toolkit for use in class.
Class Policies & COVID procedures:
Properly worn masks are encouraged but not required while inside Craft Habit. We do have masks available should you wish to wear one while spending time with us!
This class requires a minimum of 4 students enrolled, with a maximum of 6. Craft Habit will notify students at least 24 hours in advance if a class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Students will be fully refunded for any classes cancelled due to low enrollment.
Food and most beverages are not allowed during classes, due to safety concerns. You are welcome to bring water in a container that will not spill if knocked over.
Class registrations are not refundable. If you cannot attend, you may find another person to take your place in a class. Please let us know their name in advance of the class starting.
Classes cancelled by Craft Habit WILL be refunded. We will do our best to reschedule classes, and we will refund class registration fees for any classes that we have to cancel for any reason.
To respect our teachers’ time, please arrive 5 minutes before scheduled class time unless advised otherwise. Late arrivals may miss important information and may not be able to catch up to the class. We cannot issue refunds for late arrivals. Please shop for your class materials in advance!

Skill Details:
Requirements: Prerequisite: Sewing Level 1 and at least one session of Sewing Level 2 at Craft Habit, or equivalent experience. Students must be comfortable setting up & threading a sewing machine and sewing with consistent seam allowances.
