About this Event
In this class we will work together to sew a garment of your choice. Along the way you extend your sewing knowledge, learn and practise:
- to select sewing patterns and fabrics to suit your project
- pattern terminology, and how to make sense of instructions
- measuring, fitting and sewing techniques
- step by step garment construction
- tips and tricks to help you conquer your sewing goals
We start with an optional visit to a fabric store so you can learn to navigate the basics of sewing patterns, textiles, haberdashery and how to make good choices (which can be daunting for learners!). If students are confident sourcing sewing supplies, we can skip this and start working on your projects in week one.
You will choose your project, pattern and fabrics then work through the sewing construction with guidance at every step of the way. You can bring your own sewing machine if you prefer, or learn on one of our lovely computerised machines.
