About this course

Sewing for Beginners: Block 2 builds on the skills introduced in Block 1, but it’s also open to anyone with a basic understanding of sewing who wants to grow their confidence and complete their first clothing project. It’s ideal for returning students from Block 1 or our Sewing for Beginners Weekend workshop, as well as those who have used a sewing machine before but still consider themselves beginners.

Complete beginners are also welcome—however, we recommend booking a 1-hour private tuition session beforehand to help you get the most out of the course.

In this block, you’ll expand your essential sewing skills while making a simple, well-fitting top tailored to your own measurements. All body shapes and sizes are warmly welcomed. Our studio is an LGBTQI+ friendly space, and people of all genders, sizes, and backgrounds are encouraged to join us.

Alternatively, students can choose to make a non-garment project such as make-up pouch, tote bag or cushion cover.

  • How to use and maintain a sewing machine.
  • One (or more!) finished items, made by you, in a fabric and styling of your choice.
