About this Event
Date: Sunday Dec 1st, 2024
Location: Brookline Arts Center (86 Monmouth St, Brookline, MA 02446)
Join me and @briaasmith on Sunday, December 1, for a sewing circle open to Black folks, where we will collaboratively quilt the poetry of Marcellus Williams. I’ll guide participants in the trapunto quilting technique—a method I’ve been learning over the past year—that adds weight and presence to each word we stitch (examples pictured). Through this meditative yet labor-intensive process, we’ll work together to honor his poetry in a meaningful way!
This session has a capacity of 15 people. If you’re unable to join this time, don’t worry; this will be a multi-session series. No sewing experience is needed, and the event is free and open to the public.
**PLEASE NOTE: if you are unable to attend the event, PLEASE CANCEL YOUR TICKET so the next person on the waitlist can join!
