Come dive into a creative ocean adventure at our family-friendly Ripple Effect event in Alfreton! You'll learn about this new community project, how you can be part of our sustainable fashion movement and have a go at some fun, creative techniques. This event is perfect for families and children who love to be creative and want to improve their sewing skills.
There are very limited tickets for this workshop but we hope to run more throughout the Autumn!
An adult must accompany any under 16s.
This workshop is for children aged 7 and over.
You'll get the chance to experiment with two unique and exciting workshops:
Ocean-Inspired Cyanotypes: Creating art with sunlight and water! You'll use special light-sensitive fabric to capture beautiful blue prints of nature. It's a fun and fascinating process that transforms natural objects into stunning works of art.
Seaside Sewing Workshop: Bring the ocean to life with needle and thread! Whether you're a beginner or a sewing superstar you can create a sea inspired stitched scene which will become part of our ocean dress.
Our friendly instructors will be there to help you every step of the way, no experience needed just enthusiasm and experimentation.
The Ripple Effect is a new creative community project around Alfreton making a one of a kind ocean themed dress using only repurposed materials in beautiful, sea inspired colours. This piece will be more than a garment it will be a symbol of community, change, collaboration and care for our planet.
The dress will be created using only second-hand materials and in collaboration with local creatives and the community each bringing their own unique touch to the process.
The project will culminate in a fashion show early 2026 where the dress will be unveiled, celebrating not only the final creation but also the community and values behind it.
