Learn how to sew the basic finishing techniques of a 5/8" and 1.5" hem, and make a tote bag at the same time.
About this Event

This beginners sewing 101 class is built to teach you terminology, finishing techniques, and get you comfortable with your way around a sewing machine, all while making something you can walk out and fill with books, groceries or more fabric for your next project.

You will learn these fundamentals of sewing in an easy way on one of our brand new sewing machines provided by Quality Sew and Vacuum, or bring your home machine and we're happy to get you set up feeling confident on that machine as well.

Here is your supplies list, we recommend shopping at

1yd pre-washed mid-weight cotton or home decor fabric, nothing too thin or too thick please, duck canvas would be the thickest you could work with in this class.

1/4yd contrasting material for straps, preferably a material 60" wide or wider

Another strap option, 4+ yards of Cotton webbing can also work for the straps and is easier to top-stitch onto the bag.

Matching polyester thread should you so desire.

( We have all kinds of random fabric if you'd like to roll the dice and purchase some of what's already in the studio.)
