Sewing 101: Intro to Machine & Hand Sewing - Make a Drawstring Bag with Embellishments

This class is for the beginner budding sewist. We will start from the beginning with a short lecture to give a brief overview of the world of sewing including :
Basic sewing terminology and practices
What tools are needed to start your sewing journey
Introduction to hand stitching and sewing machine
We will then create a cute drawstring bag made from sustainable materials to take home!!

A little bit about Stephanie:
Hi! I’m Stephanie Baiotto, mother of 2 grown boys and forever seamstress. My sewing journey began quite young as I grew up with my grandmother creating dresses and matching hats by drafting patterns from newspaper on her kitchen table. She was a self taught sewist - mastering her skill by working long night shifts in the garment factories in PA.
As a teen, I began my sewing path learning the basics in home economics class. I sewed constantly at home and throughout my high school years doing independent sewing classes with my teacher.
I took the plunge and studied clothing and textile design in college. I began at a private design school in Atlanta then 2 major universities, I acquired my Bachelor of Science in Clothing and Textile Design.
I continued my love of sewing and creating over the years through floral design, merchandising, interior design and upholstery to, most recently, creating a wedding dress for my daughter-in-law.
I love the art of sewing and want to share my knowledge with those eager to learn.

Just remember - sewing is a journey and each path unfolds something new!

Stephanie is currently developing a new clothing brand called assembly that will be an array of one-of-a-kind, sustainable pieces created by reimagining found items. They will be carried locally and online in the near future.
