About this Event
Join expert pattern maker and sewing tutor Alison Wesley for a wonderful workshop in which she will show you how to cut out and sew a gorgeous shift dress.
This is a great workshop for those keen to build their confidence in cutting out and sewing garments and learning how to make clothes that fit well.
So that everyone can choose a lovely fabric that suits their taste, we ask you to bring your own fabric and thread to the class**. You are welcome to use our sewing machines and equipment to make your dress but can bring along your own machine if you prefer.
An excellent class for anyone wanting to gain confidence with garment making and machine sewing - the beginning of an exciting journey into creating your own clothes (that fit!).
Cost: £70 - includes equipment use.
Skill Level: Suitable for beginner garment makers (but you DO need to have used a sewing machine previously and be reasonably confident at machine sewing) as well as more skilled sewing enthusiasts looking for a new project.
- Please email [email protected] when you book the class to advise us of your normal UK dress size, plus your bust and waist measurements, so we can pass this on to Alison for pattern drafting ahead of the class.
(**Fabric choice - we suggest approximately 2.25 metres dress making fabric in cotton or soft linen - nothing too stiff or heavy and avoid any jersey fabrics - for larger dress sizes, 2.75 metres is recommended. Ask at the fabric shop when you buy your material and the shop should give advice on suitable material for a dress. We recommend using Guterman All-sew thread.).
