Sew Social! Where fashion meets friends.
18+ women/men
You’ll sew your own one-of-a-kind poncho. We’ll guide you step-by-step through setup, pattern reading, and construction. We will have a finished Poncho at the event for you to see, touch, try on.
All styles are original designs by Shan Kane & Courtney Starr, local SLC fashion designers. You’ll leave with a finished poncho and your pattern to recreate as many times as you’d like.
Whether you’re brand-new to sewing or a seasoned maker, you’ll fit right in. We’ll cover everything from threading your machine to finishing details - no stress, just good vibes and creativity. If you're more advanced, you'll have opportunity for added details.
🪡 What to Bring
- 2.5 yards of fabric total (medium to heavy weight, see below Recommended Materials)
- Optional: bring a contrast (color or texture) fabric if you’d like your bottom panels to have a color block effect.
- Sewing machine (bring your own if possible - we’ll have a few extras)
- Fabric scissors (extras available)
- Pins or clips for holding your fabric in place
