
About this Event
Beginner Sewing Class – 4 Weeks (1.5 hrs/week)
In this 4-week class, students will learn:
- How to thread and operate a basic sewing machine
- Essential sewing tools and how to use them safely
- How to read and follow a beginner sewing pattern
- Measuring and cutting fabric correctly
- Basic stitches: straight stitch, backstitch, seam finishing
- Simple ironing and pressing techniques for neat results
How to assemble and complete a personal project... you can choose from:
- PJ pants (learn sewing curves & elastic waistbands)
- A-line skirt or dress (practice seams, hems, and shaping)
- Tote bag (learn handles, seams, and lining options)
- Decorative pillow (practice cutting, corners, and stuffing/closures)
Materials Needed:
- Basic sewing kit( pins, pin cushion, scissors, tape measures, marking tools, needles, thread)
- Pattern
- Fabric
- sewing machine optional (Machines are available)
By the end of the course, each student will have completed one finished project and gained the confidence to begin sewing independently.
