Why
In Consuelo, Dominican Republic when girls reach puberty and begin menstruation many of them stop going to school because they don't have access to feminine hygiene products. For this event Cobourg and surrounding area citizens are making reusable feminine hygiene kits that will be distributed.
About the Event
During the event we need volunteers to:
1. Cut material according to design patterns
2. Assemble components
3. Sew components
4. Perform quality assurance at different stages of the production process
There are many different tasks that volunteers can contribute to the overall effort. We encourage adult volunteers to bring children older than six years old to work with us.
We will provide free refreshments, snacks and sandwiches. The facility also has a full kitchen if you want to store lunch in the fridge.
What to bring
1. Bring anything that you would like to eat or drink.
2. If you own a sewing machine, bring it.
3. A good pair of scissors for cutting cloth
4. Reading glasses if you need them to see up close.
