Learn how to sew your own beautiful quilted jacket over this 2-day weekend class. Using the Megan Neilsen Hovea Pattern, you’ll learn lots of new techniques including quilting with wadding, using bias binding to finish seams, sewing thicker, quilted fabrics into a garment. This is the perfect class if you’ve been wanting to try quilting but don’t actually want to make a quilt! We’ll contact you before the class to find out your sizing and cut your paper pattern for you, and we’ll also provide a delicious lunch on both days so you can really concentrate on learning and sewing your jacket.
Choose from versions A, B, E or F. This is an action-packed class with lots to cover, on day one you’ll be cutting your fabric and quilting your pieces, before beginning to sew up your jacket. On Day 2, we’ll help you with binding and finishing. Please don’t worry if you don’t completely finish your jacket, you can work at your own pace under our guidance and we’ll make sure you’ll leave knowing everything you need to to finish the final bits.
Please note, if you wish to make a patchwork version of the jacket, you MUST sew your patchwork fabric before the class, so it is ready for cutting. If you want to bring your own machine instead of using the studio models, you will need to bring your own walking foot. Please make sure it’s already attached to your machine prior to the class starting.
