Settling the Waikato with Marie Hickey

In the early 1860s the Government developed a scheme to bring large numbers of people to settle in the North Island. The reality was that a vastly reduced number of immigrants were brought out under what became known as the Waikato Immigration Scheme (not to be confused with the military settlers of the four Waikato Regiments).
This talk looks at the range of records of this scheme from passenger lists, land allocation, provision of seed, etc. What requirements did they have to fulfil to be accepted? What incentive was offered? Who was sent where? Where are records/information held?
