Workshop Overview:
During the workshop participants will learn about important changes that have been made to the R&D tax relief scheme along with future changes which are on the horizon. Attendees will learn how companies can benefit from making an R&D tax relief claim. The session will look at both the SME and RDEC schemes. It will focus on the differences between the two scheme and on what criteria need to be met to make a claim.

- Overview of the qualifying criteria for a claim.
- How to identify qualifying projects.
- What tax relief is available – difference between the SME and RDEC schemes and the difference between profit making and loss making companies.
- Qualifying expenditure – what costs can be included in a claim including recent changes
- Interaction with other funding – A look at how grants and subsidies can affect a claim.
- How to make a claim – changes for claims made post 8 August 2023 and for periods starting after 1 April 2023
- What records should be kept and HMRC enquiries.
- What next? Potential changes from April 2024.
