We'll be hosting a one-day Bring Your Own Tree workshop with the amazing Seth Nelson on Saturday, April 19th from 9:00-3:00.
Seth recently received his Bonsai Professional certification after an almost six-year apprenticeship at Aichi-en Bonsai in Nagoya, Japan. Seth's approach to bonsai comes from a high respect for tree health and longevity. He formed his early foundations under Jim Van Landenham and expanded his skills under Juan Andrade, ultimately leading to an apprenticeship under Junichiro Tanaka at Aichi-en. There, he learned the value of patience, and a respect for all aspects of the craft, absorbing four generations of knowledge and a design philosophy that encourages minimal wiring and refinement through trimming and pruning. This creates trees that evolve naturally and organically over the years.
Seth will be sharing this philosophy with students here at Kimura!
