Based on the series of bestselling books by Lemony Snicket, this deliciously dark film tells the story of siblings Violet (Emily Browning), Klaus (Liam Aiken), and Sunny Baudelaire, who, after the death of their parents, come to live with their new guardian, Count Olaf (Jim Carrey). Olaf's melodrama is only outweighed by his greed, and he makes the children's lives miserable while attempting to steal their inheritance.
Fortunately, the Baudelaire orphans are remarkably resilient, and Olaf proves to be no match for their cleverness and bravery. With a script as colorful as the production design, plus supporting performances by Jude Law, Billy Connolly, Meryl Streep, and Catherine O'Hara, A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS is an enchanting testament to the fact that heroes come in all sizes.
