About this Event
Canada's employment pool is becoming more diverse, newcomers making up an increasing share. However, these new oppportunities also present new challenges, which requires new tools and approaches.
There will be two parallel streams, one geared towards employers, with another geared towards potential employees. A light luncheon and networking session will follow for those who are attending in-person.
This event should allow for two and one-half CPD Credits for Formal Activity. A certificate of attendance will be provided.
Employers
Diversity in Saskatchewan has been growing for decades, thousands of skilled professionals arrive here every year. The demand for experienced engineers is also growing exponentially. SES and SIA are coming together to help your organization gather the tools to recruit and retain foreign trained engineering professionals to fill this demand. Learn how to evaluate unfamiliar credentials and CV formats, intercultural communication and strategies to foster senses of belonging that keep diverse talent on your team and building your business.
Sara Warman (she/her) is the Intercultural Education Coordinator at SIA, bringing a deep commitment to anti-racism education and advocacy. A first-generation Canadian born in Vancouver, she has had the privilege of living across Western Canada, shaping her broad perspective on cultural diversity and social justice.
Sara’s dedication to anti-racism is both professional and deeply personal. As the mother of Indigenous children, she has witnessed firsthand the systemic barriers they face in housing, employment, and relationships. This lived experience fuels her passion for equity, driving her belief that the work of anti-racism is ongoing and essential.
Zane Arnott (any pronouns) has a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Zane taught for eight years in Saskatchewan schools, then joined the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association as the Intercultural and Anti-Racism Education Coordinator. Zane brings experience as a classroom educator and a community advocate to the design and implementation of Anti-Racist professional development opportunities.

This session is designed to support you in making strong connections with Canadian employers. We’ll take a brief but practical look at some of the tools and strategies shared with employment clients at the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association (SIA).
From tailoring your resume for a local audience to improving communication during your job search, this presentation will introduce you to key skills that can help you feel more confident and prepared as you navigate the Canadian job market.
If you possess a PR Number, SIA will request you provide it at the event for their record keeping.
Taryn Millard (she/her) in her role as an Employment Counsellor at the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association, supports newcomer clients in building strong foundations for employment success. Drawing from her diverse professional background and years of experience working with newcomer communities, she offers tailored guidance in resume development, job search strategies, and career planning. Taryn is committed to fostering lifelong learning and believes in meeting clients where they are—with empathy, encouragement, and actionable tools.
Dhvani Sondhi (she/her) is an Employment Counsellor with Saskatchewan Intercultural Association, dedicated to helping newcomers build fulfilling careers and feel empowered in their new environment. Having moved to Canada five years ago, Dhvani brings a deep understanding and empathy to her work—driven by her own journey and passion for helping others navigate the same path. She thrives on making genuine connections, trying new things, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. Outside of work, Dhvani enjoys cooking, going to the gym, and spending quality time with her family.
Philip McCloskey as an Employment Counsellor, provides personalized career counseling to newcomers, helping them navigate the Canadian labour market with confidence. His support includes resume and cover letter development, job search coaching, interview preparation, and connecting clients with accessible employment programs and community resources. With a strong belief in the power of education and skill-building, Philip is passionate about empowering young people to pursue lifelong learning and achieve meaningful, sustainable employment. His client-centered approach ensures that each individual feels heard, supported, and equipped to reach their goals.
Luncheon & Networking
After our learning opportunities, all are welcome for a networking opportunity. Employers and prospective employees are welcome to create new connections. Lunch will be served at 12:30, with consideration for dietary restrictions.
