Our Service of Remembrance this year will take place at the Cross of Sacrifice at Flaybrick Memorial Gardens on Monday 11th November. Visitors are requested to begin assembly at Flaybrick from 10.40am please. The service is expected to be completed by 11.30am.
Among those attending the service this year will be:
Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside, Dr Nicholas Jedynakiewicz, who will lay a wreath on behalf of His Majesty The King.
Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Cherry Povall and the Mayoress.
A representative of Birkenhead MP Alison McGovern.
Cadets and officers from 400 (Birkenhead) RAF Air Cadet Squadron also be joining us again.
The service will be led by Reverend Keith Addenbrooke from St James’s Church and Reverend Joe Smith from St Oswald’s Church, and a lament, ‘Flowers of the Forest’, will be played on pipes by Professor Calum Semple OBE.
As in previous years, children from local schools will assist with readings.
We hope as ever that our friends and supporters will be able to join us for what is now our main event of the year, to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
After the laying of official wreaths, you are invited to lay your own tributes at the Cross of Sacrifice.
