About this Event
Opening in 2020, 9 kilometers of new trails have been constructed alongside the ongoing restoration efforts in the Rouge National Urban Park! Parks Canada & Toronto and Region Conservation Authority have completed 85 separate restoration projects in the Rouge National Urban Park since 2015. As of 2021, there has been 9.5ha of wetland created, 156m of stream stabilized, and 35ha of forest planted throughout various project sites. This new trail system intersects some ongoing and completed restoration work along with urban farm and the natural heritage system throughout the area. Join us on this field trip as we take an inside look into the design and considerations around building large interconnected wetland complexes throughout the Rouge Park.
