PARK POLICIES

Director's Determination
It has been determined by the Director of DPOR that this reservation satisfies the provisions under 11 AAC 18.025(c).
- The reservation of a cabin or recreational site does not adversely affect park facilities and/or natural or cultural resources as long as all park regulations are followed. Cabin or recreational sites are in areas where no known cultural resources exist. If cultural resources are identified, the individual that reserved the cabin or recreational site shall inform DPOR.
- State parks will be protected from pollution during the reservation of a cabin or recreational site. All trash and any debris associated with the activity will be removed from the state park. If any fuel spills take place, the individual will contact DPOR immediately.
- The public use values will be protected. Reserving a cabin or recreational site only gives exclusive use to reserved facilities during the reservation period. It does not grant exclusive use of state park land and will prohibit blocking access to state park lands or resources.
- To the extent public health, safety and welfare may be affected by this reservation, this is mitigated by the individual operating in a safe manner, avoids risks to other park users, and follows all stipulations outlined in the reservation.
In issuing this reservation, the Director also determines that cabins and recreational facilities being reserved and used is consistent with any management plan that applies to this area.

Thank you for choosing Alaska State Parks!
Regulations
There are many regulations governing the use of state parks. Here are some that are particularly important to cabin or recreation site users:
1. It is unlawful to use a public use cabin or its facilities without a permit. Each day of unauthorized use of a public use cabin is a separate offense, subject to a $50 fine.
2. Smoking (in any form, including "vaping") is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in the cabins. Cabin users are responsible for any damages to the cabins, associated facilities, or park resources. Please report any damages you may find to the local park office or the DNR Public Information Center.
3. The use of explosive devices, such as fireworks, is strictly prohibited within all state parks.
4. No discharge of firearms allowed within a 1/2 mile of a developed facility. Some parks are closed to the discharge of firearms.
5. It is unlawful to cut standing or live trees.
6. Littering is illegal. Please pack out what you pack in.
7. Only dead and down wood can be used for fires and only during your stay in the park.
8. Camping near a cabin is not allowed. A person may not camp, pitch a tent, or stay overnight within 300 feet of a public use cabin.

Public Use Cabin Information
The cabins are located along trails, remote lakes, streams, and saltwater beaches. Some cabins are accessible via highway vehicle. Most cabins are accessible year 'round, by either plane (float/wheel/ski), boat, or trail. Hikers should prepare for backcountry travel and to provide emergency shelter if they are unable to reach their cabin. The cabins are equipped with wooden sleeping platforms, a table, chairs or benches, and a nearby latrine. Designs vary. Renters should take an air mattress/sleeping pad, sleeping bag, gas or propane stove for cooking, and some way to purify water.
Check-in/Check-out Times: The earliest you may check-in to all cabins is 12:00 pm (noon). Check-out time is 12:00 pm (noon) the following day or last day of reservation. Ice hut rental check-in is 12:01 am to 11:59 p.m. the day of the rental.
